Created two IP law departments from scratch including database implementation for tracking IP matters and contracts, developed documented processes for managing IP, and retained internal and external staff and legal counsel. Managed multiple IP database conversion projects world-wide from upgrades to new systems.
Implemented a transparent and measurable, tracking system for IP spend with accurate budgeting and forecasting. The system also provided for much needed justification for explaining where the spend is going.
It is not intuitive, however, understanding your end-state for achieving a justifiable and measurable outcome is a necessity. Creating a practical, IP law department, right-sized for you is a challenge that requires the real-world experience in doing so.
